>> Swan Golf Designs In High Demand

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Swan Golf Designs is in high demand with a host of top industry events requesting speakers from the practice.

The company’s reputation as a market-leading golf course design practice was further reinforced at the recent South African Golf Summit Fancourt where principal architect Howard Swan addressed delegates on the most practical and sustainable ways forward for golf course design in the economic downturn.

Hot on the heels of that Swan will be speaking at both the London Golf Conference (May 1-2) and the KPMG Golf Business Forum, Celtic Manor, Wales (May 4-6).

Swan said: “It’s an honour to be invited to so many events like these and stand alongside the likes of the PGA, European Tour and other industry figureheads.

“Attendees at Fancourt were extremely receptive to my speech and I’ve had some great feedback from people across the industry. Hopefully the next two events will go just as well.

“Conferences like these are vital to the industry so that we can all benefit from each other’s expertise. Anything that will help develop and grow the game of golf can only be a good thing and obviously Swan Golf Designs is keen to be involved.”

This is just the start of a busy year for Swan Golf Designs with members of the practice planning on attending and speaking at various events as far afield as New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur.

Swan Golf Designs has worked on more than 300 golf projects over the last three decades, including projects on five different continents.

The practice aims to give a superior level of golf course through the personal service provided by its dedicated team of architects and is devoted to the principle of making courses fit seamlessly within their landscape while still being a masterpiece in their own right.

The next GCA ‘Profit From Golf’ Roadshow, at The Warwickshire GC on 4th June, will be a vital event for golf club operators and industry professionals in the UK.

The event kicks off the third year of the no-nonsense Roadshow format, which has proved a highly successful innovation for the Golf Consultants Association (www.profitfromgolf.com) since its introduction in May 2007.

“If you want to find out what’s happening around the UK golf industry, right now, you need to come to the GCA Roadshow,” said GCA Chairman Ian Bulleid.

“Our Roadshows, held in association with Ransomes Jacobsen E-Z-GO, have attracted hundreds of UK golf club operators over the last two seasons. People are attracted by the format, which is a half-day event where people learn the latest industry information, and take away plenty of action points for their ‘things to do right now’ list.

“We ask our speakers to give practical day-to-day advice, rather than ‘big picture’ type presentations – although as the room is generally full of very experienced industry people, the Q&A sessions and open discussions are always extremely wide-ranging.”

At June’s GCA Roadshow, Tony Scott from industry analysts SMS will give delegates an overview of current UK golf market statistics, driving range expert Colin Jenkins (from OGRO) will give examples of how range operators are using innovative methods to beat the recession, and experienced industry figure Jeremy Kilby will show how the Club Managers Association of Europe’s education programme is helping hundreds of club operators in 2009.

The second half of the Roadshow introduces a brand new feature for 2009, wherein all Golf Consultants Association members who attend the event will each give short presentation, covering their particular specialist subject, summarising their best advice on how to thrive in golf in the next 12 months.

The Roadshow will end with an open forum, moderated by the GCA, where all delegates have the chance to raise any topic which they feel is currently ‘hot’.

GCA Chairman, Ian Bulleid, finishes: “On 4th June at The Warwickshire, we will pack an incredible amount of diverse and relevant golf business advice into a single morning. It should be another very cost-effective and popular event, and as we have an all-new programme we are looking forward to meeting plenty of previous delegates, as well as many first-timers, at The Warwickshire.”

Anyone from the golf industry can attend the event, which costs just £40 including lunch and VAT. The Roadshow lasts half a day, registration 09:00 – 09:30, reducing the time delegates need to spend away from their businesses.

Places are limited at the ‘Profit From Golf’ Roadshow. For more information on GCA Roadshows, or to book a place at the Warwickshire event on 4th June 2009, please contact Jacqui Baldwin at the Golf Consultants Association on 02476 414999 x207, or email info@profitfromgolf.com
